Anti-War lawn signs available from WHCPJ We have printed up a new batch of anti-war lawn signs. On one side they say "End U.S. Occupation of Iraq" and on the other side they say "Bring the Troops Home Now". We paid $5 for them and would like to get a donation of at least that much for each one, but no one will be refused a sign who wants one in their yard. WE WILL DELIVER. Just send a note to whcpj@yahoo.com.

Bridgeport Anti-Patriot Act resolution? The Bridgeport City Council will likely vote on a civil liberties/Patriot Act resolution on July 7. Bridgeport would be the 5th CT city to pass such a resolution. Keith Rodgerson -- a City Councilman for Bridgeport -- is looking for public support at the meeting. keithrodgerson@post.harvard.edu, 203-410-9968. The nationwide effort to demand modification of the Patriot Act is organized by the Bill of Rights Defense Committee. To date, some 325 cities and towns, and four states, plus hundreds of other organizations have passed such resolutions. We are still working on West Hartford to join in. Please consider clicking the Donate button on the BORDC website to help fuel this national freedom train!

Whitehouse in disarray; Bush a raving paranoid? From an article published on Capitolhillblue.com by Doug Thompson: "President George W. Bush's increasingly erratic behavior and wide mood swings has the halls of the West Wing buzzing lately as aides privately express growing concern over their leader's state of mind. In meetings with top aides and administration officials, the President goes from quoting the Bible in one breath to obscene tantrums against the media, Democrats and others that he classifies as enemies of the state...." Iraq: The Case for Immediate U.S. Withdrawal by Joanne Landy New Politics, vol. 10, no. 1, whole no. 37, Summer 2004 IT'S HARD TO SEE HOW the Bush administration is going to win the war in Iraq. Despite all the official bravado, a cloud of doom is descending on the White House, and with good reason: international outrage is mounting at U.S. behavior at Abu Ghraib prison and throughout Iraq, more and more Americans are concluding that the war is going badly, and Iraq is proving uncontrollable with reports, in May, that only 35 percent of Iraqis want U.S. forces to stay.

Never thought international trade laws would make you laugh? Check this out: It's a biting, two-minute animated movie about how the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) has been presented as a gift, but like the Trojan Horse, it's really a vehicle for American corporations to invade and conquer.
